The Smoke that Thunders

Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya "the smoke that thunders", Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Straddling the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Falls span nearly 1.7 kilometres and plunge over 100 metres into the Batoka Gorge below.

The town of Victoria Falls sits at the edge of this spectacle, offering everything from guided gorge walks and white-water rafting to sundowner cruises on the Zambezi and game drives into the surrounding wilderness. The Pods position you at the centre of it all — close enough to see the rising mist from the waterfall when in full flow!

Water volume at peak flood season, making it the largest curtain of falling water on earth

Listed since 1989, the Falls and surrounding rainforest are among Africa's most protected landscape

The rising spray can be seen from tens of kilometres away and sustains a rare riverine rainforest

Each season brings a different face — high flood drama in April, clear gorge views in October and November

Visit the Falls Themselves

Walk the rainforest path along the cliff edge as the spray drenches you and the roar fills everything. Accessible on foot from the main entrance, with guides available for a richer understanding of the gorge, its geology, and its ecology. Best visited at different times of day — morning light and calmness, afternoon colour, and the full-moon night walks are each entirely different experiences.
